If you’re contemplating buying an annual subscription and canceling it, don’t even think about it, as you’ll be on the hook for 50 percent of the remaining monthly fees.Based on the higher prices and hoops I had to jump through just to discover them, it’s clear that Adobe isn’t interested in selling apps by the month. I did just that and found out that if you pay by the month, the Complete package costs $74.99 per month and a single app will run you $29.99 per month. And the Student and Teacher edition, which normally runs $29.99 per month, is only $19.99 per month on a special offer good through 25 June 2013.But what if you need Photoshop or Dreamweaver for just a single month? Adobe does offer month-to-month pricing, but doesn’t advertise it — you’ll have to contact an Adobe representative to place an order. For instance, there’s the $69.99 per month, per user Team edition, which includes some additional software, such as InCopy, that’s not in the Complete package. Of course "viable" in this context is a very flexible term, depending on an individual's needs and preferences. Then they will switch to some other applications, if viable alternatives are available.
For anyone less prosperous the cost of CC will be problematic.No, the real problem with Adobe's cloud only policy is the element of coercion involved. If you have a business and your business makes enough of a profit to pay taxes on, you will undoubtedly be able to write off the cost of CC. So take those favorable comparisons with the grain of salt they're really worth.
Creative Suite 5.5 Standard Full Of Themselves
The numbers of those who feel that way will be growing up exponentially now. Many people already consider Adobe to be too full of themselves. It's an incredibly high handed and customer hostile policy.

Quick!)There are ever-better competitive tools for Photoshop and many other packages that Adobe makes that should ostensibly keep them from just jacking the price up lest they lose all but their most-dedicated professional customers who can't choose any alternative. Especially with TidBITS readers, as we and they tend to keep hardware for a while, it's different.Flip side, though is that Adobe is making a broad range of tools available more cheaply to more people, even as it frustrates those who just need one tool or would be happy with an old tool. Some people (including my dad, I think) are running 10-year-old versions of Photoshop.Adobe is breaking the notion that you are buying something with which you make proprietary format documents that will work as long as the hardware works if you don't change anything on your end.
